Raquel Wilson

Raquel Wilson serves on the board of the Hosea Family Association as Chair of the Genealogy Committee. The granddaughter of Bernice (Hosea) Carter and daughter of Ronald Wilson, Raquel is deeply committed to preserving the family’s history and helping relatives better understand their shared roots. For her, genealogy is about more than tracing names and dates. It is about uncovering the lives and stories of those who came before us, connecting branches of the family tree.

Raquel brings an international perspective to this work, shaped by her experiences living and working across Africa, Europe, and the United States in strategic communications, finance, and partnership building. An economic strategist and entrepreneur, she has founded and operated businesses in four countries, including a farmers market in Dakar, Senegal. She is also a licensed real estate agent, serves on the advisory board of Kenya’s Kasi Desert Circuit, Africa’s first climate-aligned innovation district, and is the CEO of Building Equity, a firm exploring how ownership and investment in cities can create lasting opportunities for the people who call them home.

Originally from Gary, Indiana, Raquel graduated from Lew Wallace High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. She holds an MBA from Imperial College London and is currently pursuing an Executive MSc in Cities at the London School of Economics.
As Genealogy Committee Chair, Raquel works with family members to uncover, document, and preserve the Hosea family legacy, connecting experiences and creating a lasting history of the family’s journey, contributions, and enduring impact.
